Heal Your City Climate | Košice

1. 4. 26 12:00

On 1 April 2026, the Co-ADAPT Nature-Based Solutions Exploration Seminars brought together participants from diverse backgrounds in Košice to exchange ideas, explore inspiring examples, and imagine how nature-based solutions can help create healthier, more resilient cities. Through presentations and open discussions, the seminars created a dynamic space for learning, creativity, and collective reflection.

A key focus of the seminars was the importance of rainwater management in urban ecosystems. Participants explored how conventional urban planning has often overlooked the ecological value of water, treating rainwater as something to be drained away from rooftops and sealed surfaces rather than as a vital resource that supports life. The discussions highlighted the essential role of rainwater in sustaining urban greenery, improving air quality, supporting biodiversity, and naturally cooling cities. The seminars encouraged participants to rethink urban water management and consider how small-scale nature-based solutions can help retain rainwater, restore natural water cycles, and create greener, healthier, and more climate-resilient urban environments.

The current heatwave is plaguing the whole of Europe. The worst are the cities that are experiencing hell in their thermal bubbles. Therefore, it is a great challenge for communities across Europe to mobilize to heal the climate of their cities. To this task, it is also necessary to mobilize the civil public, so that they also get involved in solving the climate protection of our common environment, in which we spend 99% of our time.
